
Case Study 1:
Following a disclosure from a UK chemical company an individual was identified who was attempting to open a trade account to purchase chemicals. It was known that the subject had previously purchased chemicals from a ‘rogue trader’ that could be used in the production of methylamphetamine. The police carried out an investigation and later executed a search warrant discovering a number of chemicals and equipment associated with methylamphetamine production. Other evidence seized at the premises led to the individual being convicted on charges in relation to Attempt to Import Class A drugs.
Case Study 2:
More than one chemical company reported suspicious sales activity by more than one individual; an assortment of chemicals were being purchased and were all destined for the northwest region of England. Based on this information the police initiated a major operation to track and ascertain the use of these chemicals. As a result four active amphetamine laboratories were discovered and ten offenders convicted for illicit drug production.
Case Study 3:
Following disclosures from a UK chemical company an individual was identified who was purchasing chemicals consistent with LSD production. A subsequent police operation discovered an LSD laboratory in a residential property; one person was arrested and convicted of Class A drug production.
